Mt. Kha Ka Borazi National Park

Location
Located between 28 05' N and 97 44' E in Naung Mung township of Kachin State.

Area
1,472 square miles.

Year of establishment
Established in 1996.

Access
Yangon to Myit Kyi Na, 920 miles by car or 723 miles by train ,Myit Kyi Na to Putao ,218 miles and Putao to Naung Mung ,35 miles by car.

Objective & Characteristic
        (a) To conserve natural forests and wildlife in the northern part of Myanmar.
        (b) To establish and maintain a national park of high - quality and up to the standard of modern environmental conservation policies.
        (c) To Promote the present status to an eco tourism industry of high standard on Kakaborazi, the highest mountain in Myanmar with 29,698 feet in the height and other significantly beautiful scenery.
        (d) To conserve watersheds in the area where the Ayeyawady River originates.
        (e) To carry out development activities for Himalayan Mountain Region in
            cooperation with the international organizations.
       
Forest & Vegetative Type
        (a) Evergreen forest
        (b) Hill Pine Forest
        (c) Moist Upper Mixed Deciduous Forest
       
Wild Life
        (a) In addition to rare species such as Takin, Muak Deer, Blue Sheep,
        (b) Black Barking Deer, Phet Gyi (Muntiaus Putaoensis), mammals species and
             insects such as Butterflies are present.

Birds Species
             The region situated in the northern sides of Myanmar where the reputed place as Snowing Land, most part of the area are occupied by snow. There are over 300 bird species living in ever green forests, hill-pine forests and moist upper mixed deciduous forests.
             Rare species such as Tragopan, Mona, some highland species and numerous forest-dwelling species can be observed and new species are still being discovered in this region. (Experts forecast that there are more new species which are not recorded.)

Conservation, Development and Research Programmes
(a) Effective prohibitory actions against poaching and illegal trade of rare species.
(b) Conducting field studies to reveal new plant and animal species.
(c) Conducting necessary field studies to promote and implement an ecotourism industry of high standard.
(d) Conservation of traditional culture, custom and way of living of local indigenous people.
