Gokhteik Bridge
Among modern rail bridge of major size that was built in Myanmar in prewar times the Gokkteik Bridge in Northern Shan State is the oldest and largest. Gokhteik is the name derived from a village called “Ngokhteik” which is situated in the remote forest around Hispaw town in Northen Shan. Shan call this village “Ho-Kawt”. Ngok hteik is a Myanmar word. ”Ngok” means to go under and “hteik” means, “top” the place where the said village is the place where rivers and the streams go underground and disappear. Therefore the whole area is called “Ngokhteik” and the village there acquire that name. In course of time “Ngok” corrupted to “Gok” and the name became “Gokhteik”.When the railway line was constructed between Mandalay in the central plains and Lashio on the Northern Shan State Plateau, the Gokhteik Bridge that was in 1903, became the most important link between two highlands. At a distance of 7 miles past northern of Naung Cho station on the Mandalay –Lashio rail line, the Gokhteik bridge is located at railway mile stone 463/09. Unlike other rail bridges which cross-streams and rivers the Gokhteik Bridge crosses two enormous ravines over 300feet deep.
The designer of the Bridge were Sir A.M.Rendel and Co.of London, England. The constructors were Pennsylvania and Maryland Bridge and Construction Co.of USA. From New York, USA construction materials were shipped to Yangon, from where they were transported to the construction site by rail.

Narrow Gauge (Namtu Mine Loco Expedition)
This is the greatest privilege for the train enthusiastic. Witness the world most rare narrow gauge locomotive in actual working. Namtu the famous mine for narrow gauge train operational located in the hilly plain for north of Shan state. Mine rail way was established at 1906. A 50 miles long 2 ft gauge railways connected to Lashio line. Most of the steam locomotive was converted from wood to coal burning in 1925. Today there are 2 of the world most are narrow gauge locomotive piles in the Myanmar Mine railways.

Thazi-Kalaw- Shwe Nyaug (Taunggyi)
Thazi is one of the famous Railway station along the Mandalay to Yangon. Thazi is situated (80) miles away from Mandalay, (306) miles from Yangon. From Thazi we can change coach that will proceed to Taunggyi .
Kalaw is ( 63)  miles far away from Thazi .It is situated (1440) m above sea level. The weather is cold. Kalaw is one of the famous hill town of Shan state and is inhabited by only a few thousand people, originating from the various ethnic groups of Myanmar. Native belles wear colorful, locally woven by national costume . Main Attraction hill tub Trekking and ethnic groups excursion . Excursion to Pindaya cave and Inle lake sightseeing .
