How To Get There

• Your trip Mt: Phonganrazi start at Putao that is 725 miles by air from Yangon.
  It is 61 miles far away from Putao.
• The first 14 miles from Putao to Upper Shankaung village is a motor road while the rest of the trip is to be made on foot.
• Three miles walk to ice-covered land. If the weather is favorable, trekkers can stay atop for about "1" to 1 ½ hours.
• The round trip from Putao to Mt: Phonganrazi will averagely last 12 days.

The weather in the region is always changing very fast and should be noted that there is no month without rain through the year and the rain falls even in summer.

You can find Lisu and Rawan tribes along the way to Mt.Phonganrazi through the majority of the people there are Rawan who earn their living by doing hunting and hillside cultivation. Almost all the people in the region are Christians.

Rawang
Rawang live near Putao and the border of Chinese Tibetan. They speak Kachin in Nung dialect. According to Kachin legend, the Nung-Rawangs were the first of six brothers from whom the main Kachin families are descended. They live in valleys and mountain. They have long been primarily hunter and gatherers, but they also grow rice, serve as porters, and mine for gold and jade. Their men mostly had a twig or thorn in the ear as ornament, the women sometimes with large silver ear-rings. The latter also were tattooed in green round the mouth.
