Religious Monument
Mandalay Hill
It is situated at the north of Mandela with the high of 236 meters, Steps are altogether 1729 and taking coach is also available.
An easy half – hour bare foot climb up the sheltered steps brings you to a wide view over the palace. The famous proverb said, "He who want to live long life, must be take the shelter of the Mandalay hill."

Maha Myat Muni Pagoda
The meaning of the pagoda's name is " the great Sage Pagoda" situated at southwest of the town. The center piece of the shrine is the highly venerated " Maha Myat Muni" pagoda image, which was transported to Myanmar from Mrauk U from Rakhine state. it is believed that the image was cast at the present of the Buddha when Buddha came to the court of Rakhine kingdom. The 4m high and 12 tons weight image was cast in bronze but over the thousands of the years many of Buddhist devout completely covered with gold leaf onto the body of the image.

Kutho Daw Pagoda (The Royal Bounty)
Also known as the Maha Lawka Mer Razein pagoda, the central stupa here was took the model of Shwe zi Gone pagoda in Bagan Building commenced in 1857, at the same time as the royal palace. The pagoda complex has has been dubbed "the world biggest book" for standing around the central stupa are 729 marble slabson which are inscribed the entire Tipitaka (Buddhist Canon). Each slabs is housed in its own individual small stupa. The 729 stone slabs comprise Vinaya 111(the Desiplins of Buddha), Sutta 410 ( the discourses of Buddha) and Abhidama 208 ( The teaching of Buddha).
The proverb said that "there are other celebrated pagdas in Mandalay, but there is nothing like the Kutho Daw anywhere."

A Tumashi Monastery (The Incomparable Monastery)
The monastery was known for the many ecclesiastical conventions which were held within its walls and also for the Buddha image made of the silkens germents of the King, with a lacquer exterior, and a big diamonds on the fore head which was stolen during the confusion following the annexation of upper Burma in 1885. THis Monastery was burnt down in 1890.

Shwe Nan Daw Monastery ( King Mindone's Chamber)
Which contains a replica of the royal throne. It is said that Thibaw use to come here for meditation and the couon which he was accustomed to sit can still be seen. It is infect, an apartment of the royal palace, King Minndone and his chief Queen spent most of their happy time. After King Minndone death, his successor, Thibaw, donated to clergy as their resident.

Kyauk Taw Gyi Pagoda
This Pagoda was curved out of a huge single block of marble brought from the nearby mines of Marble hill. It is said that the marble block was so big so that ten thousand men had to be employed for thirteen days to transport it from a canal to the site of the pagoda. The scene was very likely to the construction site of Pyramid in Egypt.

Bamboo Paper Making
This special bamboo paper is an extraordinary paper, capable of withstanding the blows of the goldbeater's hammer for hours. The paper can be used in at least seventy such beating sessions before it is destroyed.
Each length of Bamboo is sliced into thin strips
  1. Small bundles of bamboo strips are placed in large ceramic urns, layered with lime, and left to ret from three to Six years.
  2. The retted bamboo is cooked in clays pot for 36 hours.
  3. The cooked bamboo is thoroughly washed.
  4. The retted bamboo trips are pounded on the stone with wooden mallet.
  5. After long time beating make them into fiber.
  6. The workers easily separate the bamboo into fibrous strands, preparing it for fifteen days of hand beating.
  7. Then those are pounded to become pulp exactly 3,000 times, using a wooden pestle.
  8. After the pounding in a mortar, the workers beat the pulp on a stone surface, using deer antlers.
  9. The workers disperse one ball of bamboo pulp with water in a metal container, using a pronged wooden rod.
  10. The bowl of pulp is poured onto the surface of the mould.
  11. The pulps are evenly dispersed over the entire surface of the mould.
  12. The dowel is rolled over the coalescing pulp.
  13. The sheet of paper has been formed and the mould is slowly raised from the shallow through of water.
  14. The mould, with the sheet of wet bamboo paper still adhered, is brought outside to dry.
  15. The preparation for the removal of the dry paper, the paper maker unties the bamboo thongs that attach the mould cloth to it's frame, and gently pulls the cloth to it's frame, and gently pulls the cloth away from the paper.
  16. With the top of the bamboo paper now released from the mould, the workers carefully peels the rest of the sheet from the cloth.
  17. Squares of bamboo paper are deftly rubbed with a sharp knife to remove any surface fuzz.
  18. The squares of paper are further burnished with a few strokes of a fine-grained polished stone.
  19. Entrance to the underground chamber where the final burnishing takes place.
  20. In the semi-darkness of the underground room, workers burnish each bamboo sheet on a brass plate.
