December! Holy month of the year
Month for good spirit!

It is in this month of Nattaw that ritual feast in honor of Nats, are held. Even when the feast is held by an individual family friends and neighbors join in to share the music, songs, and dances. When a ritual feast is held either by a family or a community, professional mediums are called in. These mediums have the images of Nats. A marquee is built and all the images and accessories and offerings of flowers, candles and fruits are place in there on an elevated dais.
A space is reserved for the orchestra with the elaborate decorations of mythical figures like dragons and Pyin Sa Rupa, an animals, with the body of a horse, winged like a bird, horned like an antler and scaled like a fish.
Dances are spirited as might be expected as the mediums are possessed by the Nats and the music is rollicking. It is a colorful affair and the audience can join in and people often do.
Rituals feast are, if anything, clans gatherings with all the romance, mirth, and fun. Many of the song, dances and play of the Myanmar theatre have their roots in the ritual feasts.

However, things go on and will go on so long as people have their need for feasts and rituals and above all, to let off steam once in a while.

Kayin New Year Festival

       In Union of Myanmar there are over 135 races are living peacefully together. Each race has their own culture, dance, literature, and Era. Kayin is one of the major tribe groups in Myanmar and they annually held their New Year day festival in Kayin State as well as Yangon.
       New Year festival is the essential one and can be observed how they celebrate their traditional boxing competition, their songs, and their attractive dance, which is full with active movement.
       New Year festivals, Harvest festivals, traditional boxing competition are very   interested activities & one of their traditional dance which is dance with moving bamboo frame on the ground is also famous among other people. Phar Si or royal drum is also their sacred thing.
 

Golden Spectacle Pagoda Festival

Means Of The Pagoda's Name
     The name of the Pagoda in Myanmar language is "Shwe Myat Hman" Pagoda. "Shwe" means “Gold” and "Myat Hman" means “Spectacle”, so that it's means "The Pagoda with Golden Spectacle".

The respective Date of Built and Founder Founder
The pagoda was built in AD 4 by the great King Duttha Baung and his wife who founded the ancient city of Sri Khistra.

Why the pagoda has Golden Spectacle?
The history began at the time of King Duttha Baung, he actually was a great King but he was so found of his mighty power and proud onto it. So he sinned to his ancestors by words and thoughts. So he lost his eyesight. Later he confessed to his ancestors and he made golden spectacle to donate the image. But the spectacle that we could see is not original one, but donated by Chinese Donor.

The Characters of Festival?
The pagoda festival is not only for religious festival but also for the social activities. Visitors can see Many of Pilgrims and street vendors. Along the ways of the festival vendors are exhibit their goods and also can be seen Myanmar traditional Bullock Cart, Myanmar Orchestra, Puppet Show, Magic show and many of Myanmar colorful people.
