Scholars believe that Bagan was founded by a Pyu Prince (King Samuddrid) when the Puy civilization are faded and destroy.
He came and reaches to Yone Hlot area. Then he gether "19" villages and founded as a big village and he ruled. He gave the name as Pyu Gama, which means "the village of Pyu".
The big village was being developed and became a city, the name also change into "Ari Madana Pura" by means of the city which has overcame to all dangers and enemies. The King gave the name in the memories of overcoming to mythical creature.
The king moved the city to another place and established the new city, then he named as Thiri Pyit Saya. (In present time it became Thiri Pyit Saya village and situated at southern side of Bagan.
The king shifted the city to another place and named again Tampa Waddy means the copper land. In present day it became Phwar Saw village situated at eastern side of Bagan.
The city was gradually perfected with the signal of the city. The king enlarged and enlarged his city and became the present area and the king built the new city wall and gate and building. The name was Bagan.
The city was famous and full with popularity, and Buddhism also flourished and even the city became the first Myanmar Empire. The king took the Tri Pitika from Thatone and supressed animism. The architecture technique and the standard of Myanmar traditional art are promoted.
The power of Bagan Emperor reached to zenith period. The king and his followers even the widows could build and donate the temples and pagodas. Bagan became the land of Pagodas and uncompareable city of the world.
The power of emperor was gradually faded and faded away. The great king of Mongual the king Kublain Khan conquered top Bagan and the power of bagan was handed in the king by the name of King Saw Mon Nit (1325-1369). He was not the real king, he was only the puppet king of Mongual and the glory of Emperor was destroyed in the hand of Kin Saw Mon Nit.
