Rakhine

 The Rakhaing (formerly called Arakanese), about 4% of the population of Myanmar, they are the majority ethnic groups of Rakhine state, speak a dialect of Burma. Most of Rakhine are Buddhists. They are skilled weavers and are known in Myanmar for their eye-catching and intricately patterned longyi. Myo, Thet, Khami, Daignet, Maramargyi and Khaman are the minority tribes of Rakhine, living on the mountains, which are on the west and north of Sittwe Plain.

Traditional Costumes
Their traditional costumes is similar to Myanmar. Men wear the Longyi (sarone) with shirt and Myanmar traditional jacket , and generally wear the turban. Ladies wear Longyi (Sarong) with long sleeves covered by shawl . Their traditional (sarong) are very attractive .

Capital and it's town
The state is composed with 17 townships and the capital of the state is Sittwe.

Their Main Products
The Although can get good rain , timber are not available here. The main crops are paddy, cotton, chille, tobacco, coconut , many kinds of beans, marine products, betel and thatch. In island, a few amount of petrol can find and in Taung Kok can be seen marble hill, in Ranbre island there is lime stone hill, and Sandwe , Kyauk Phyu cities can be seen salts production.

Rakhine state is full with special interested sites not only for local people but also for all visitors, There are many things which should to be observed and study. Their culture, there festivals , their ways of life , and their history are introduced by the famous Author Morris Colic and his book is written about the glory of Ancient Rakhine Kingdom and it's Golden cities by the name of " the City of Golden Mrauk U ".

Scenery
Rakhine mountain ranges is over 4000 and 5000 feet in height, Share the border with in eastern bay of Bangal, northern with Chin state, Southern with Irrawaddy division, and at the eastern of the state is covered by Rakhine mountain ranges.Rakhine state is rather narrow coastal region.

Rivers
There are four rivers names, Nat, Mayu, Kalatan, and Lay Mro, rivers.

Attractive sites
Mrauk U
Mrauk U and it was founded in AD 1430 by the great King Min Saw Mon. That city was located in Mro Haung town ship of Sittwe district and many researchers, observers, and history professors from western countries have been arriving in that ruin city. History Author DGE hall said that Mro Haung or Mrauk U was likely to be the same as Venice and at present days Bangkok. Because there had many canals ponds, rivers, getting in touch with the ocean of Bengal. In the record of King Narita from India in AD 1630 it was mentioned that the prosperous and well fare of Mrauk U was fairly like to Amsterdam and London cities in western. In olden days the Kings of Mrauk U even hired Japanese samurai as bodyguards against assassination. So that Mrauk U is a really a very city. However ,visitors can study and observe the ancient sand stone cultures in many of pagodas and temples it will also offers many chances to see and study the culture and traditional heritages handed down to the present days. Mrauk U is "an open air museum".

Wethali
Wethali, 10km north of Mrauk U was founded in 327 AD and last until the 8th century. Of the oval-shaped city boundaries that remain, only parts of the moat and walls are still visible amid the rice paddies. Many of the hillocks around this area are actually overgrown stupas. A central palace site – whose walls are relatively well preserved – measures about 500m by 300m. The palace prayer hall is now used as an irrigation tank during the rainy season.

Ngapali Beach
Located in Thandwe (Sandoway) one of the ancient Rakhine (formerly Arakan) towns. About an hour flight from Yangon. It is said that have been named after the Naple of Italy by a homesick Italian. Ngapali Beach is one of the loveliest places in Myanmar; it is also one of the most unspoilt beaches in the world, with miles of pure white sands skirting the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean.

Kyin (traditional Boxing)
The famous festivals are traditional water festivals and Kyin festivals ( a kind of traditional boxing) specially aimed for good health, courage, braveness, and certainly not refer to be died or broken down some parts of the body.

Traditional Water Festivals
It is water festival but a little slightly different from Myanmar water festival. In this occasion a long boat or canoe is used as water tank which is full with water. Boys stand on the other sides of boat and girls are another sides. A bamboo carrier with four feet high is usually place in front of the girls playing water. formally, they use water in the canoe and throw – reciprocally with big bowl . If a boy would like to pour on a special girls among others, you must request a woman who is in charge of those girls. When that woman give him permission and he is also allowed by that special girl.
