“Delta Queen”, Myanmar River Cruises

            "Delta Queen" cruises overnight from Yangon to Pathein three times per week. The trip is sold in conjunction with transfer by coach to Ngwe Saung Beach. Once in Pathein passengers are transferred to Ngwe Saung by air conditioned coach one and a half hours away. The steel hulled vessel is 148 ft. long with a beam of 28 ft and a draft of 5 ft. Purpose built for plying the waters in the Delta region of the mighty Ayeyarwaddy (Irrawaddy) River. With three decks consisting of 14 comfortable air-conditioned cabins with share shower and toilet facilities.

Cruising through the Delta area (Irrawaddy Division) by seeing to the natural scenic of Irrawaddy River. The Ayeyarwady Division is mostly a delta region and covering an area of 35 138 km²!

The region is called: “The biggest granary of Myanmar!”
                 The principal crop is paddy. Almost 1.5 million hectare paddy fields are cultivated, which is about 90% of the total agricultural lands in this division and out of this, 16% double cropping during the dry season! Other prominent crops are maize, sesame, groundnut, sunflower, beans and pulses and jute, chilli, betel leaf, betel nut, coconut, banana, mango etc…
Fishery business is important. The Division produces fish, prawn, fish-paste, dry fish, dry prawn and fish sauce, which are distributed to the whole country.

Ngwe Saung Beach is 24 km long, situated on the west coast of Myanmar in the Bay of Bengal invites you to swim, surf, snorkel and relax under palm trees fringing the various seaside resorts. You can visit small fishing villages and local markets, explore the countryside by bicycle or enjoy a boat trip to the magnificent offshore islands. DELTA QUEEN
The Delta region cover an area of 1000 square miles of waterways and wetlands and is one of the most complex river systems on the planet. There are seven main channels flowing down from the Ayeyarwady valley and from these several thousand creeks and lesser channels. The two main ports are Yangon, the present day capital, and Pathein, centre for the paddy producers in this area once known as the ‘rice basket of Asia’. In the Delta profuse human activity mixes with a varied selection of wild life and bird life. People live on the river and there is constant activity. The Delta towns are attractive and humming with life and activity. The Delta area has only just opened to travellers and a cruise through its backwaters offers an insight into a lost world.

Day 01: Tue/Thu/Sat Yangon - Pathein <cruise>
Afternoon transfer to jetty and board on Delta Queen cruise 1500/0700 <check in time at Nanthida jetty 1400>. Observe unique daily life and fantastic sunset views over the delta as you cruise west. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 02: Wed/Fri/Sun Pathein - Ngwesaung beach <coach>
Breakfast on board and transfer by road to Ngwesaung beach <approx 4 hour>. Check in at your hotel and relax rest of the day. Overnight in Ngwesaung beach.

Day 06: Ngwesaung - Yangon <coach>
